Summarise the prologue.
Summarise the prologue.
Ah, I am glad you took my proposal.
Let us not waste more time and get to it right away!
We start our oracle inside of the bedroom of a young man named Rowen Ribbit at an arbitrary point on the 4th of November 2023; There he aliased himself as FurnaceFrog on an online chat program called Quarrel. On it he sent a friend request to his friend SerpantShlock. While waiting for the request to be accepted, Rowen made good use of his time by checking his collection of video games, his Funky Gnomes, waving at Bob the gardener from the upstairs window, and playing with his toy. These actions in particular were compelled by the so-called force of "reader suggestions" from readers like you. Riveting stuff!
SerpantShlock accepted the friend request and sent a message to Rowen, who was still occupied with the afore mentioned reader suggested actions. Quite a while, and a mess, later Rowen responded upon which SerpantShlock immediately warned Rowen not to enter the nearby forest, so he may prevent Rowen's entry into Faer. He also forced Rowen to add all his friends to Quarrel, of which a few immediately accepted and began chatting with Rowen.
Rowen's friend BotanicBuck talked about his ravaged rare plants he got from the country of Suriname, of which one of them was supposed to bear fruit if it weren't actively dying. He is very miffed about the situation, so he is doing the best he can to remedy it despite the circumstances. His chat is cut short due to his pet red panda, Ruby, having collapsed one of the shelves holding a bunch of hand crafted glassware. Rowen also talked with HearthyHoney, which was mostly just them being horny for each other and promising to meet up that weekend.
SerpantShlock continues his chat with Rowen from where he left off, attempting to convince him of the validity of his tarot reading by selling it as a great prophesy of some kind. Serpant is convinced of his reading, but Rowen is not really having any of it. Regardless, still, out of curiosity he asks whether his demon is involved with the reading. SerpantShlock responds with "no" and that "Canopus" has nothing to do with it.
On a personal addendum, if you don't mind me breaking up the summary for a bit; Canopus, a great demon, is quite a name to just drop out of nowhere. I doubt-... No, I am pretty sure Rowen has no idea of the significance of that demon, and it's just SerpantShlock who does, but the mere mention of them definitely put me on guard when I got to that part. Something to keep in mind for the future, perhaps? Maybe I am just overthinking it.
Sorry, tangent over. Where was I?
SerpantShlock explains that an event has been in motion since six o' clock that morning and would continue up until the exact time the morning of the 5th. It is also revealed that SerpantShlock lives in the aforementioned place called "Faer", where I am also from, and that Rowen and friends are from a place called "Eden". He warns Rowen that a calamity is about to come to the place if he and the rest of his friends enter it. Despite the concern of that calamity, the biggest revelation of the conversation, however, is the entry of a so called "prince". SerpantShlock says that Rowen is likely that prince. Rowen doesn't believe him, obviously. SerpantShlock proceeds to explain him some of the mechanics of Faer as well as telling him what not to do to prevent the aforementioned calamity. If only only he knew the futility of his warnings.
The last conversation of this little chat session is with GapingGothic who is allegedly already inside Faer since this morning because he was helping a bat he met early on in the day. Yes, an animal seems to have dragged him into this realm. GapingGothic's icon is also different from what it normally is supposed to look like and he is unable to change it for some reason. Even I don't know why that is.
Once Rowen's done chatting he tries to play a game, but it is sadly stuck updating for a very long time so instead he heads downstairs for a drink. Here we meet his brother Woran. They have a short moment together before being interrupted by a cloud of fairy dust. A fairy from the Ribbit Kingdom reveals itself upon its dissipation who's name is Raspberry. A lengthy process of convincing Rowen to come to Faer ensues resulting in all of Rowen's Funky Gnomes are whisked away by Raspberry the fairy to get him to budge and come along for he has been doing nothing but resist up until that point. However, the gnomes would have been taken away regardless because they had to be sent to Faer for Rowen's "quest" he has to go on once he has arrived. The loss of his Funky Gnomes resulted in Rowen admitting defeat and accepting to go to Faer with Raspberry. He is rewarded for his compliance with new clothes and a sick new frog themed tablet with lots of cool functions. The tablet also has Quarrel on it and has a handy button to swap to smart phone mode. After having picked an outfit with it, Rowen proceeds to chat it up with his friends, of which most have accepted his friend request by now.
His first chat is with MuskyMushroom, who, with a bubbly personality and random Italian words mixed in his speech, reveals that he is also already in Faer together with a few Faer natives. HearthyHoney is next and they just chat about dicks with Rowen. He then proceeds with Serpantshlock who asks where Rowen is right now in a concerned tone. Their conversation devolves into Rowen relaying the events that happened that afternoon and they devise a plan B together, allowing Rowen to enter Faer today due to the futility of the situation. It is also revealed that AlternativeAlien, another friend of theirs, has also been inside Faer since this morning. However, he is distinctly "trapped" in a strange place compared to GapingGothic and MuskyMushroom whom allegedly roam free.
We continue with a situation less dire with BotanicBuck who talks about his red panda and that Rowen should consider adopting a pet. Following that, PrussianPixie talks a bit more about the prophecy and the patterns that have emerged. For example: That everyone who entered Faer so far has had a guide of sorts upon entry. He also reveals that you can't exactly exit Faer on your own accord, not the way you came anyway. Moving onto GapingGothic: He shows Rowen a picture of a mansion he is currently at and proceeds to discuss the familiar things that happened to both of them that day. It seems however that GapingGothic went with the motions entering Faer without even questioning any of it. His sole motivation being, well, getting fucked by a huge cock after seeing it through till the end. Rowen then calls him a whore, affectionately.
The final chats start with WreckedWild who instigated a role-play of sorts before switching to his usual exciting typing style. Nothing of note is really said however. The final conversation is with CottonChaos, nicknamed "Bunny" by Rowen and friends, where they discuss at length about their fixations and that their favourite brands are having a collaboration. Bunny pre-ordered a special limited edition collaboration Funky Gnome with "Hey Bunny" branding for them both. The conversation is cut short when Bunny's brother returns home.
Time is slowly ticking down to three in the afternoon, but Rowen takes a few more minutes to catch up on a group chat he's been added to. Here he sees chat messages from AlternativeAlien, the sole friend he has not yet chatted with. The entire conversation is entirely bullshit, but Rowen does get a feel of the events that have happened thus far regarding Faer, now that he has all the context necessary to put A and B together.
There is one section within this group chat where his friends discuss Faer tarot decks and how they are used. For a simple explanation, assuming you have a basic understanding of what tarot is: Faer tarot is about people who represent an aspect of life, rather than depicting a journey, and there are three decks used simultaneously in common readings. These are: The cosmology deck, the elemental deck, and the leprechaun deck. A short hand notation of tarot readings in Faer is with three letters, separated by a dash (X-X-X). The first letter being the deck the card is from (C = Cosmo/E = Element/L = Lepre); The second letter being the card, which can sometimes have a lower case letter attached to it if there is overlap, or be notated with a Roman numeral; And the third letter is the position (U = upright/D = downright) of the card. The reading itself is then done from left to right if you're right handed, and right to left if you're left handed.
With that explained, we get the following reading for Rowen and his friends:
C-P-U C-S-D L-L-U E-P-D E-D-D
Which follows a Cosmo prince, a Cosmo sage, a Lepre leprechaun, an Element prince, and an Element doom crier. The last card represents the oncoming calamity, which is followed by the four horsemen appearing, meaning it actually can represent up to five people in total: The doom crier themselves and the four horsemen. SerpentShlock chose to interpret this as that all his friends are about to enter Faer, even if the maths is more implied than absolute, causing a calamity to occur somehow. This reading was substantiated based on the activities of the Ribbit kingdom while they were preparing to fetch Rowen today. Not a bad reading by any means, but SerpentShlock showed some doubts later on this afternoon and, as was mentioned before, wants Rowen and those already in Faer to meet with him so they may discuss things moving forward.
Anyway, after all that reading, Rowen swiftly says hello to the gang with the little time he has left and goes AFK shortly afterwards as Raspberry prods him to get going. Rowen quickly swaps the mode of his froggy tablet, turning it into a froggy phone, and proceeds to says his temporary goodbye to his Brother, leaving for Faer. Within 5 minutes of walking, Rowen has entered the nearby forest with Raspberry and stepped over the boundary between Eden and Faer at exactly three in the afternoon on the dot.
And thus concludes the summary of the prologue oracle.
I hope you were able to stomach this entire wall of text, but this should be the most digestible version of the events so far.
Thank you kindly for reading all of that!
Maybe I will return in the future at some point, but, for now I will have to leave you here and letting the characters of this story take the helm from here.
So,
Until next we meet!
